NEW ORLEANS -The Bayou Classic announced today that both Grambling University Foundation, Inc. and the Southern University System Foundation, Inc., have entered an agreement with Wells Fargo, a leading global financial services company, for it to serve as the “Official Banking Sponsor” of the Bayou Classic. The 48th Annual Bayou Classic, Presented by Procter & Gamble, will be played on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Every Thanksgiving weekend, fans of both teams descend on the city, turning the French Quarter and downtown areas into seas of black and gold and blue and gold . Students from the Central Creativity Robotics program will showcase the robots they built from reusable parts. This national anthem performance is fueling the kickstart of this all-star band after a period of forced dormancy following the pandemic outbreak. This new event that has been added to the family of annual Bayou Classic events is a showcase of African American-owned small and emerging businesses within the state of Louisiana to promote economic growth and utilization by the state’s business community and organizations. More than 40 African American-owned small and emerging businesses from across the state will be in attendance. The Bayou Classic kicked off Monday with several events leading up to the much-anticipated rivalry game between Grambling State and Southern University. Historically, Grambling State and Southern have arguably had the two most successful football teams in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Through the 2021 season, Grambling has more SWAC football titles than any other school ; Southern has the second most with 18. GSU and SU also have more black national titles than any other SWAC schools; as of 2021, Grambling has the second most in the entire country with 15 total, while SU has the fourth most at the FCS-level .
